Giles Cooper Automotive Ltd was created to carry on the tradition of selling an interesting range of cars with specialisation in Sports and Performance vehicles. This was started over 3 decades ago.
Many years ago this was by way of marketing all types of mainstream cars, progressing to the selling of Lotus vehicles and subsequently diversifying into the world of TVR. This was to remain the mainstay and all consuming passion for the next three decades.
Giles Cooper was the spirit and driving force behind the original business, which at that time operated from the sleepy hamlet of Dane End in Hertfordshire. A chance phone call from Peter Wheeler then owner of TVR Engineering in Blackpool launched a joint business relationship with the opening (on an existing TVR site) of the factory’s London outlet in 1985. Two years later Giles bought out Peter Wheeler’s share and for the next 19 years or so maintained the premier role as TVR’s number one dealer in North London.
As time went by two other dealerships were born, the first being solely TVR in Surrey and the second initially TVR with the later addition of a Lotus franchise in Essex. Shorty after Peter sold TVR, Giles was approached by Noble Automotive and having taken on the franchise immediately made an impact. A large amount of the still born M15 models and many of the remaining GT03R and M400 versions were sold. Finally in 2005 Tony Stelliga, the new owner of Marcos cars and previous TVR customer sought out Giles’s specialist car experience to help with his new road car project.
With the wind of change in TVR fortunes, along with the non appearance of the Noble M15 model and subsequent reduction of Marcos cars future projections all resulted in a complete change of plan.
To this end Giles Cooper Automotive Ltd has been operating from the village of Barley in the north east corner of Hertfordshire for the last few years. With a desire to relocate and after an exhaustive search a very characterful property was eventually found in the most attractive surroundings of the Essex / Suffolk borders with convenient access to all areas.
This area is one of much beauty and worth a trip on its own, however to make your journey even more fruitful, after your purchase we have a very good local pub called The Thatchers Arms less than 1/2 mile away where excellent food is served at attractive prices!
